Everything's Coming Up Britney - Britney Spears Has A New Dog, A New Cat, and An Invitation To Testify Against Conservatorships Before Congress
In the wake of the 13-year conservatorship that was finally lifted at the end of last year, Britney Spears is finally getting to do many of the things she wanted to do - and that includes getting her new dog, who she says she found "in Maui, like a dream."
Spears introduced the new addition to her family in an Instagram post:
(My coworkers couldn't help but point out that, had she not gotten a male dog, she could say "it's Britney's Bitch" whenever she introduced her, which would have been amazing. Maybe someday.)
In true Britney fashion, the caption to her Instagram post was incredibly long, but the bit at the beginning was probably the sweetest part:
"Geez .... can you have two loves of your lives because he comes in second !!!!" she captioned her post. "I found him in Maui like a dream and took him home with me immediately. It's funny . . . he doesn't talk back but it's like he understands what I'm saying !!!!"
Spears also happily announced that she had gotten a very smart cat, who she would introduce eventually. She is truly living the life she wants now, bragging that her house is "FULL of animals," just the way she likes it.
Plus, now that she is a few months away from her long ordeal battling for her freedom in the courts, she will now get the chance to help others in similar situations: A "Britney Bill" was introduced in Congress in July that would require closer examination of conservatorship cases in general. Then, in early December, two representatives sent Britney a litter inviting her to testify before Congress on the issue, giving her personal account of what she was put through.
Spears posted the letter on her Instagram yesterday, stating that she is finally at the "healing stage" where she could handle such a discussion.
We're looking forward to seeing Britney achieve new happiness and help others in her situation (like Star Trek's Lt. Uhara, Nichelle Nichols) find the freedom they deserve as well.
