Bernie Madoff's Sister Sondra Wiener Found Dead With Lifeless Husband Inside Florida Home: Was Foul Play Involved?
Bernie Madoff's only sister, Sondra Wiener, and her husband Marvin were found dead inside their Florida home last week, authorities confirmed.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office reportedly received a 911 call around 12:55 p.m. Thursday about a male and female who were unresponsive inside their home. The Boca Raton News then confirmed that the sheriff's office eventually identified the bodies as those of Sondra and Marvin.
No foul play was seemingly involved in the incident. However, the authorities currently suspect that it seemed to be a murder-suicide case. The medical examiner will still determine the exact cause of death.
While waiting for the result, the violent crimes division's detectives started an investigation on the scene. The probe remains ongoing.
The couple had been living in Valencia Lakes since 2009. According to the community website, the Wieners joined other 55+-year-old adults who enjoy amenities in the area, including clubhouse, pool, and more.
Following the shocking news about their tragic deaths, one resident told The Palm Beach Post that they were a lovely couple. Sondra, before her death, usually spent her time swimming in the Valencia Lakes' pools.
Meanwhile, Marvin reportedly did not golf for years because of his undisclosed health issues.
"Let me start off by stating that as many of you have heard, we had a tragic situation on Barca Boulevard regarding the passing of Sondra and Marvin Wiener," the community leader said, as quoted by PEOPLE. "Our thoughts and condolences go out to their family. There is currently an investigation pending. All I can say is at this time there is no security or safety threat to anyone in the community."
Sondra's Death After Bernie Madoff Died
The news came months after Madoff's lawyer, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons revealed that the disgraced financier, who ran the largest Ponzi scheme in history, was found dead inside his prison cell.
Associated Press reported at that time that Madoff suffered several health conditions including bladder neck obstruction, cardiovascular disease, hypoparathyroidism, and hypertension. On top of that, he had terminal kidney failure before his death.

Madoff and his team requested the court for a release, but a judge disapproved his request and compassionate release.
"Bernie, up until his death, lived with guilt and remorse for his crimes," his lawyer Brandon Sample said in a statement," his lawyer said. "Although the crimes Bernie was convicted of have come to define who he was - he was also a father and a husband."
