It's hard to imagine Scrat, the hapless, acorn-obsessed saber-toothed squirrel from Ice Age, as a father, but that's exactly what we're going to see in the six new animated "Scrat Tales" shorts that will go along with the new Ice Age film, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild.

According to a press release just put out by Disney, the new shorts will see Scrat experience "the ups and downs of fatherhood, as he and the adorable, mischievous Baby Scrat, alternately bond with each other and battle for ownership of the highly treasured Acorn."

The release will feature six brand new shorts:

First, there's "Nuts About You," in which Scrat meets his son, Baby Scrat, and experiences the pure joy of fatherhood - that is, until his son, a true chip off the old block, sees The Acorn for the first time and goes predictably berserk.

Then there's "LoFi Scrat Beats to Sleep/Chill to," (a title that reminds me that yes, people my age are making movies and putting references that I get in them now,) Scrat pounds out a "percussive lullaby" to get a fussy Baby Scrat to stop crying and go to sleep.

In "X's and Uh-O's," Scrat shows Baby Scrat how to plant The Acorn, but, in true story-about-parenting fashion, it's really Scrat who is being taught the lesson.

Then, in "Nutty Reflections," Scrat and Baby Scrat run into a dark cave chasing The Acorn, only to discover that the inside looks like a creepy funhouse-style hall of mirrors.

"Teeter Toddler" tells the story of what happens when a dodo bird lands Scrat and Baby Scrat in a percarius position: On opposite sides of a log held up by a single branch.

And lastly, in "Nut The End," The Acorn goes flying off a cliff. It appears to be gone forever, much to the chagrin of our little family - can the father and son get along in its absence?

We'll all find out the answer to that question - and many more - when Ice Age: Scrat Tales, produced by Anthony Nisi, premieres on Disney+ on April 13.

Can't wait that long for more Scrat? Well, there's good news: If you haven't seen it yet, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild is available to watch now on Disney+.
