Sha’Carri Richardson Reveals How She Forgave Herself After Olympic Suspension
Several months after Sha'Carri Richardson was suspended from the Olympic Team before the Tokyo Summer Games in Japan, the track and field athlete is speaking out about the most important lesson she learned and how she forgave herself for the matter.
In an interview with Teen Vogue, published on Wednesday, the 21-year-old athlete candidly opened up about how she worked on herself after getting suspended from the Olympic team following a positive THC drug test in Eugene, Oregon.
Richardson noted that she showed herself forgiveness by acknowledging the matter and the situation for what it is.
"Acknowledging my responsibilities in it, and talking about it to the people I feel like it impacted besides myself," she added. (via People Magazine)
When the shocking situation was happening, the track and field star said she first spoke to the people she felt like with her most of the time in her running career, and she apologized to them first.
She adds, "I felt like they had to hold my shame as well, in a way - or my guilt, in a way."
By acknowledging her mistakes, Richardson felt okay on the inside as she allowed herself to be more vulnerable, and the whole incident was a "very big growing and touching experience."
Elsewhere in the interview, the athlete also reflected on how others "flip" and changed their perception of her after the THC drug test came back positive.
She noted how the entire situation reflected on herself, and she had to be grounded because people "flip" so fast.

What Happened to Sha'Carri Richardson?
According to Sporting News, Richardson is the fastest among U.S. qualifiers after running a shocking 10.86 in a 100-meter dash women's division.
Prior to the Olympic trials, she was removed from the team as she tested positive for THC.
After the issue circulated, Richardson spoke for the first time in an interview where she explained her side of the story, saying she used cannabis as a coping mechanism after a "complete stranger" revealed to her that her biological mother had passed away.
The athlete then apologized for her actions, saying she owned up to what she did and she was not making any excuse to get out of the situation.
However, being in that position when she found out the devastating news impacted her severely, saying it "definitely was a very heavy topic" on her.
