Sherri Shepherd Honors Wendy Williams After Replacing Her Time Slot
Since Wendy Williams is still dealing with her health problems, FOX ultimately decided to give her time slot to someone else. After being a guest host of the show, Sherri Shepherd finally gets her TV show.
More recently, the actress spoke to Andy Cohen on "Watch What Happens Live," where she honored and commended Williams in a heartwarming way.
Shepherd noted that the TV host "made her own path," and no one else in the industry can recreate what Williams specifically is iconic for, especially her catchphrases "spill the tea" and "you know that I'm talking about."
The upcoming host added she loves her fearlessness, and she wanted to emulate it to keep ongoing.
"She opened up a lot of doors, and she's up there with the greats," she added. (via People Magazine)
Elsewhere in the interview, Shepherd shared her sentiments about having her own TV show as it was always a dream of her following her stint in "The View" for many years.
When she was a kid, the host would use a toilet paper roll and act as a microphone before talking to her audience, teddy bears.
Sherri Shepherd's recent appearance comes a few days after Williams' publicist, Howard Bragman, released a statement on behalf of her, saying the famed TV host is going through a difficult time with her health, but she remains thankful to her supporters for watching the show despite her absence.
The former radio presenter reportedly understood the reality of syndicated television and why her time slot was being replaced by someone else.
The representative then added that Williams knew that decision was based on a business perspective. Debmar-Mercury assured her that she could come back on television when the time came, and she recovered from her health problems.
However, Williams appeared to disagree with Bragman as she took online to speak out against her publicist, saying she didn't permit him to speak on her behalf.
The TV host said she appreciated his concern, but she never authorized him to make such statements.
Sherri Shepherd will be replacing Williams' time slot in a new show titled "Sherri." The show will tackle pop culture, comedy, and entertainment and will air after "The Wendy Williams Show's" current season ends.
