Alec Baldwin Shares Cryptic Message After Matt Hutchins' Bombshell Interview
Alec Baldwin shared a cryptic post after receiving continuous attacks following the "Rust" shooting incident.
Days after Halyna Hutchins' husband, Matt, broke his silence in a bombshell interview with "Today," Baldwin talked about a cryptic quote regarding the use of speech to benefit others.
On Twitter, the 63-year-old actor noted how, in Buddhism, being truthful is more than not telling lies.
"'In the same way, Rahula,' the Buddha continued, 'when anyone feels no shame in telling a deliberate lie, there is no evil, I tell you, they will not do. Thus, Rahula, you should train yourself, 'I will not tell a deliberate lie, even in jest,'" he wrote on Thursday.
In the second tweet, he explained that the spiritual quote urges people to use speech not only to benefit themselves but to help others, too.
The comments section received mixed comments from fans. Some supported him and showered him with kind messages, while others blamed him for the "Rust" shooting incident.
One said, "Accountability. Taking ownership, cleanly, and responsibly. Not leaving anything out."
"Peace be with you Alec. Everyone knows you did no wrong," another wrote.
The Latest on "Rust" Shooting Investigation
Baldwin's statement came after Hutchins' family filed a wrongful death lawsuit and Matt's bombshell interview with "Today."
On February 15, Hutchins' family - through their lawyers - dropped a hair-raising video re-enacting the tragic shooting that killed the cinematographer.
Attorney Brian Panish said at a press conference in Los Angeles that many people are guilty of what happened. But he pressed Baldwin as he was the person holding the weapon that ended up killing Hutchins.
"[Baldwin] has significant portion liability, but there are others, and that's what this case is going to be about - assessing fair apportionment to whoever's responsible for the senseless tragedy," Panish said, as quoted by Page Six.
The wrongful death lawsuit also named armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, assistant director David Halls, production companies, and producers, as defendants.
His comments resonated with what Hutchins' husband said during his new interview with NBC's "Today." The widower said that the fact Baldwin denied his responsibility for Hutchins' death made him feel angry. Though he is blaming Baldwin over Hutchins' death, he also highlighted other issues that led to his wife's death, including gun safety and the problems in the industry.
