Shannen Doherty Transforms Into Real-Life Hero Amid Breast Cancer Battle
Shannen Doherty remains positive as she continues her battle against breast cancer.
Doherty transformed herself into a real-life superhero and called herself #CancerSlayer following her recent early-morning appointment.
On Friday, Doherty shared an inspiring Instagram post featuring a photo of her wearing a mask and her IV bandage.
"Early morning doctors visit for scans. Blurry eyed. Hair askew but the new bandage wraps made me smile! #cancerslayer," she captioned the post.
The 50-year-old "Beverly Hills, 90210" star has been battling breast cancer for the past three years, and she continuously receives treatment for it. Although it also affected her mental health, she shares everything about her cancer journey - good or bad - since the disease came back in 2019.
Before her recent updates, she told her fans that she was dealing with a nosebleed following her chemotherapy. She admitted feeling tired, but she lifted herself by wearing funny pajamas.
Shannen Doherty Feels More Positive
While her cancer has already spread, Doherty is using her network to show people that it is still possible to enjoy life despite having stage 4 cancer.
In October, she sat for an interview with ABC News and said that working, for her, had always been fulfilling despite her ongoing health issue.
"It's assumed that they cannot work or they can't work at their full capacity. And that is not true and that is something that I would really like for people to sort of stop assuming, and give us a chance to prove them wrong," she said.
That was also the reason why she decided to make a bucket list. For Doherty, it is what pushes her to keep fighting to stay alive, and she told ELLE magazine that she is desperate to live for 10 or 15 years more since she is not yet ready for "pasture."
Doherty first felt something was wrong with her when she noticed a sharp pain in her back. Her cancer spread to her spine in early winter 2019, becoming stage 4 metastatic cancer after her remission in April 2017. After learning the diagnosis, she started hormone therapy alongside a stabilizing drug.
However, her cancer is already terminal, and her doctors have already informed her it could spread to her brain, lungs, and liver.
