The New 'NOPE' Poster Might Just Hold A Few Secrets About Jordan Peele's Latest. Time For A Closer Look.
Jordan Peele knows how to tease an audience with his outside the box approach of blending horror and social commentary, while still keeping the wool over our eyes through ominous trailers and chillingly vague poster art. His latest film NOPE is no exception, showcasing a bevy of possible spoilers, red herrings, and clues to what exactly the film has in store when it releases this summer.
To catch up the uninitiated, NOPE could be an alien abduction movie or something else entirely. We just don't know. A dark cloud appears in the sky and begins to suck up everything in its path, terrifying the residents of a small California town, including horse breeders Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) and Keke Palmer (Hustlers). Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) seems to play the announcer at a rodeo of sorts. All and all, Jordan Peele is keeping the premise super hush-hush and we appreciate him for it.
Now onto the poster. If one were to take a deep dive into what is presented, there are some fitting clues as to who might be behind the cloud. The post shows a horse front and center being pulled into the sky, an obvious nod to Kaluuya and Palmer's characters, though it is the little things hovering throughout the image which you might want to zoom in on.
Upon further inspection, small plush alien dolls litter the frame to tease at most popular guesses that these might indeed be alien abductions. Eyeglasses, loose change, and coins with horseshoes are also in sight, leading us to believe the abductions might be happening near a carnival, or as stated earlier, a rodeo. Icee cups with their bright red straws, also present, seems to confirm the theory.
But there is one object that both disturbs and raises a few eyebrows. A severed hand. Yes, to the left of the frame there is indeed a hand cut off at the wrist! The only guess might be someone got their hand caught on something as they were being swooped into the sky, but damn, it is a shock when you see it.
We are just going to have to be patient and trust Jordan Peele has another gem for fans when NOPE come out this July.
