Bill Gates Shocker: Melinda Reveals Real Reason Why She Divorced Tech Mogul
Melinda French Gates broke her silence on what led to her divorce from Bill Gates.
Nearly a year since Melinda and Bill ended their 27 years of marriage, the matriarch sat down for an interview with CBS Mornings and dropped more details about their split.
In a preview released by the show, Melinda said that there "wasn't one moment" that led to their divorce. While Bill's infidelity with a staffer 20 years ago seemingly became the root cause of the issue, the 57-year-old women's advocate dismissed the claims and said she thought they could work that out since she believes in forgiveness.
Instead of Bill's cheating issue, Melinda revealed a more serious reason they came up with the decision.
"It wasn't one moment or one specific thing that happened. There just came a point in time where there was enough there that I realized it just wasn't healthy, and I couldn't trust what we had," she explained.
She also took her time to share with Gayle King the emotions she went through due to the complex process.
According to Melinda, she cried a lot for many days before feeling angry after realizing she had lost something she thought she would have for a lifetime.
But the dark days for her are all over now that she feels like she is starting to reach the other side of her healing journey. Since it is already 2022, Melinda could not help but feel excited about what the future holds for her instead.
Bill Gates Also Needs to Move On
Like Melinda, Bill also learned he has to move forward following his divorce from his wife.
In August, the 66-year-old billionaire spoke up during his appearance on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360" and admitted he regrets cheating on Melinda.
Despite that, he reportedly reached the point where he convinced himself to go forward. The divorce indeed broke Gates family, but the estranged couple is healing and learning from what happened.
Bill also confessed his infidelity in a statement to Wall Street Journal after getting axed off the Microsoft board of directors. Per the tech mogul, he had an affair 20 years ago, which ended amicably. He also clarified that being booted off the board of directors was not related to his adultery.
Instead, he left his chair to focus on his philanthropy.
