Marylin Manson Files Wild Lawsuit Against Ex Evan Rachel Wood, Saying She Created a Conspiracy To Make Him Look Like An Abuser
And now, for something baffling:
Rock artist Marylin Manson is filing a lawsuit against his ex-fiancee, Evan Rachel Wood, actress in Westworld and Frozen 2, saying that she created false abuse allegations in order to torpedo his career while boosting her own.
Around one year ago, Wood came out on Instagram to name names: Though she had talked about being domestically abused for a while, she hadn't said who her abuser was until then.
In what is now a sadly familiar pattern, after she came out with her story, other women followed.
Manson is now vehemently denying these claims, as evidenced by the complaint he just filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court:
"This action arises from the wrongful and illegal acts done in furtherance of a conspiracy by Defendant Evan Rachel Wood and her on-again, off-again romantic partner, Defendant Ashley Gore, a/k/a Illma Gore, to publicly cast Plaintiff Brian Warner, p/k/a Marilyn Manson, as a rapist and abuser-a malicious falsehood that has derailed Warner's successful music, TV, and film career,"
The complaint also implicates Wood's partner, Illma Gore, an artist, accusing her of masterminding this alleged conspiracy. The accusations call her "a grifter who understood that an organized attack on Warner - spearheaded by Wood's own fabricated revelation of rape and abuse - could benefit them both."
"With Gore's help, Wood could be rebranded, from someone who 'still might best be known for dating Marilyn Manson a decade ago,' into an outspoken standard bearer for victims of domestic violence or sexual assault - thereby absolving her reputation for having a 'wild past' and her embarrassment for having been in a long-term relationship with Marilyn Manson."
But wait, there's more: The complaint also alleges that the pair impersonated the FBI in order to put this conspiracy into motion.
"They impersonated an actual agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation by forging and distributing a fictitious letter from the agent ... They provided checklists and scripts to prospective accusers, listing the specific alleged acts of abuse that they should claim against Warner ... and They made knowingly false statements to prospective accusers (which have since been repeated by those accusers in court filings), including the defamatory claim that Warner filmed the sexual assault of a minor."
Manson started dating Wood in 2007, when she was 19 and he was 37. They were engaged for a short period of time in 2010 - when she was 21 and he was 40 - before they split.
We're not going to accuse Manson of lying...but we will say that if literally any of these accusations pan out, we will be floored.
