Nothing compares to having a best buddy. This week, Halsey talked about her relationship with her 5-year-old dog Jagger, who died suddenly.

She revealed that she's beyond broken over losing her pet, which was surprising for her at the same time because she never thought grief can be this heavy when a beloved dog passes.

"This has been the worst week of my life. Before I had a dog of my own, I would hear people mourn their pets and think 'it's just a dog,' well I couldn't have been more wrong," she said.

The 27-year-old "Without Me" singer revealed the tragic news Saturday, March 5, with a slideshow of photographs showing off her beloved Jagger.

She added that she had thought of him dying in the past, but believed she has the time to prepare for it and make his last days as peaceful and joyful as possible. But much like any tragic event, this one blindsided her.

"I got Jagger when he was just a few weeks old. I sometimes thought about him passing. How would it feel? Well he'd be old and rickety and grumpy by then. We'd spend the last few years giving him extra ice cream and lazy sunbathing days that he loved when he was too old to run in circles," she explained.

She felt shocked that the vision she had of her and Jagger being together for a long time is not going to come true after all. "I knew it would hurt and I feared it immensely, but I was at peace that we'd have many more years together and he'd have a long good life. Unfortunately, that is not how it happened for us," she said.

Jagger died of myelomalacia. It's a rare condition, but deadly. The performer revealed that it took only 3 days for the once healthy dog to being paralyzed and to being dead. Halsey reminds pet owners to love their pets "every single second" because things can change quickly.

She also said that this is the "most visceral" loss she ever felt, like losing a "vital appendage." Halsey claimed Jagger thought her how to be a good mom to Ender, now 8 months.

It can be recalled how excited and happy Halsey was when she became pregnant with Ender. She shares the child with her partner Alev Aydin.
