"Star Trek" actress Laurel Goodwin, 79, and also the star of the television series "Girls! Girls! Girls!," has passed away.

On February 25th, the Hollywood legend passed away in Cathedral City; the cause of her death is yet unknown.

At the age of 19, Laurel obtained a deal with Paramount Pictures and began a career in film, television, and theater.

It is for her role in the 1962 film "Girls! Girls! Girls!" with Elvis Presley that Laurel is perhaps best recognized.

As Laurel Dodge, the good-hearted affluent girl, she gave her all to earn Elvis' affections. However, she is most known for a memorable incident in which she danced with the rock star.

Laurel was cast as Yeoman J.M. Colt in the pilot episode of "Star Trek: The Cage" soon after the film's release. Unfortunately, t he pilot was finished off by the beginning of 1965.

"Star Trek" producers hold on to her even though her pilot didn't sell at the time. In spite of this, Laurel had two offers to create pilots for network comedies to choose from.

In an interview for StarTrek.com in 2016, the actress expressed how much she valued her short stint with the franchise. "I said, 'Oh, no. Star Trek is it. I've got to do Star Trek. It's great, it's gonna be wonderful," she said.

She also appeared on "Get Smart," "The Beverly Hillbillies," and "Mannix."

Walter Wood co-produced the film "Stroker Ace" with her after she retired from performing in 1971, after which she pursued a career in nursing.

Fans have gone to Twitter after the news of her death was reported to express their grief.

As one Twitter user put it: "Sad to hear that Laurel Goodwin, yet another member of our #StarTrek family, has passed away. Laurel appeared along with Captain Pike, Number One, and Spock in the original pilot, 'The Cage.' Sending my condolences to her family and loved ones." It's apparent that she made a mark on the "Star Trek" universe.

Another grieving fan stated, "SAD FAREWELL. Laurel Goodwin was in the #StarTrek episode THE CAGE and appeared opposite #ElvisPresley in GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS. I am just receiving word that Laurel died on February 25 at the age of 79. RIP."
