While in Atlanta earlier this year, the "Black Panther" director Ryan Coogler was mistakenly handcuffed because he was mistaken as a robber. Allegedly, his outfit and appearance make him look like one.

According to a police report acquired by Page Six, the 35-year-old director was trying to make a covert withdrawal from his bank account on Jan. 7.

During his visit to the Atlanta office, Coogler was wearing a white face mask to protect him from the COVID-19 virus. He was also in a green hoodie. The outfit was completed with a black hat and dark sunglasses. Certainly, his outfit made sure he would not be recognized while staying safe against the threat of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

In the police complaint, the teller was characterized as "pregnant black female" and received a slip with a handwritten note on the reverse from Coogler.

The police report stated that the teller received an "alert notification from Mr. Coogler's account." prompting her to call her manager and dialed 911.

"I would like to withdraw $12,000 cash from my checking account," the note read. "Please do the money count somewhere else. I'd like to be discreet." TMZ was able to allegedly obtain this handwritten, suspicious note.

Coogler's arrest was a Bank of America error, according to the police report, which noted that he was "immediately removed out of handcuffs" when the misunderstanding was sorted out.

On Wednesday, a Bank of America spokeswoman told Page Six that it truly regretted that this situation occurred. The institution said it should not have happened. It also claimed to have extended its apologies to the director already, which Coogler confirmed.

"This situation should never have happened. However, Bank of America worked with me and addressed it to my satisfaction and we have moved on," Coogler said.

Coogler is currently working on the "Black Panther 2" sequel, which is being shot in Atlanta.

"Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," a highly anticipated Marvel picture, will be released in November.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming on "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" was momentarily halted because of the severity of the injuries suffered by actor Letitia Wright.

In late August, Wright was hurt while filming a stunt rig scenario in Boston, Massachusetts. When Wright was injured, Marvel Studios claimed that the film's filming schedule would not be affected.

Shuri, T'Challa's younger sister, has been the focus of production since Wright's accident, and she has remained in London ever since. With a total of $1.3 billion and three Oscars, Shuri was a breakout star in the 2018 movie. Chadwick Boseman's character was raised to the starring role of the sequel after he died of cancer in August 2020.
