Amanda Bynes Breaks Silence For The First Time After Filing To End Conservatorship
For the first time in almost two weeks, Amanda Bynes breaks her silence about the filing of her nearly decade-long conservatorship. Why did she do it in the first place?
In a 12-second video sent to a freshly made Instagram account on Tuesday, the 35-year-old actress thanked her followers for their "love and support," hinting that she's aware that there are many fans who want to see her freed from her said conservatorship.
She also said the court date for her the hearing about this cancellation of consevatorship is nearing. "What's up Instagram, Amanda Bynes here," she said. "My court date is coming up in two weeks. I want to thank you all so much for your love and support. Peace out," she added.
In addition to a pair of thick black glasses covering her eyes and a black heart tattoo on her cheek, she had her jet black hair pulled back into a bun with dyed grey ombre tips.
The Nickelodeon star, who has struggled with mental health challenges for some time, asked the Ventura County Superior Court to end the conservatorship in a formal application in February.
When a conservatorship case is filed in California, it must include current documents from the patient's doctor or psychologist or a religious healer concerning their mental health. The actress complied, with Bynes submitting a capacity declaration in the bid to win her case.
A hearing on this issue has been placed on the court docket at March end.
"Amanda wishes to terminate her conservatorship. She believes her condition is improved and protection of the court is no longer necessary," her lawyer, David A. Esquibias, told People Magazine.
Lynn Bynes, Bynes' mother, has been acting as conservator since Bynes' mental breakdown in 2013.
It has been reported that the "She's The Man" actress has struggled with mental illness in the past, and she has previously been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
In 2012, Bynes was detained in Los Angeles on suspicion of driving under the influence, and in 2013, she was charged with reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence, and unlawful possession of marijuana when her arrests were re-enforced the following year.
In the following year, she had a breakdown and was placed on a 5150 mental health hold.
Since she was placed under conservatorship a year ago, Amanda has tweeted about being physically and verbally abused by her father while growing up, which has caused worries.
Accusations of 'incestuousness' against him were also made.
Despite Amanda's parents' denials, she swiftly altered her tune with a tweet that was just as disturbing. "'My dad never did any of those things," she tweeted. 'The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he's the one that ordered them to microchip me," she added.
During a Paper Magazine interview, the actress confessed that she had slipped into a depression after filming her hit movie, "She's the Man."
