Brian Laundrie Family Attorney Reveals The Truth About Gabby Petito's Family's Claims
After Gabby Petito's parents launched a civil case against Chris and Roberta Laundrie, Brian Laundrie's family lawyer recently exposed some facts.
According to Steven Bertolino, the "baseless" assertions that he had contact with their daughter's killer were false.
He informed WFLA that he had no direct touch with Brian before he departed Wyoming on August 31.
Brian allegedly murdered his girlfriend four days earlier, and Gabby Petito's death was confirmed in October 2021.
According to the civil case filed by Gabby's parents, Chris and Roberta Laundrie allegedly knew Gabby was murdered since Brian confessed to her murder when he returned from his trip, just days before they engaged a lawyer.
Joseph Petito and Nichole Schmidt believe Brian Laundrie informed his parents, Christopher Laundrie and Roberta Laundrie, that he had murdered Gabrielle Petito.
It further stated that the Laundrie parents met with Bertolino, the lawyer they hired, on the same date and gave him a retainer for September 2, 2021.
Despite their repeated requests, Joseph and Nichole believe Brian's parents knew about Gabby's death but did not contact or alert the police or even them.
In a statement issued on their behalf by their lawyer, Rick Stafford, Chris and Roberta were accused of "callous indifference to the anguish."
"Christopher and Roberta had numerous chances to inform Joe, Nichole, or the authorities that Gabby was no longer alive and to direct them to her body."
They then argued that the washing added to Gabby's family's misery, pain, and suffering.
However, Steven Bertolino, Chris Laundrie, and Roberta Laundrie condemned the case, calling it "baseless."
Brian's parents, according to the Petitos, were also working to get their son out of the country.
"Assuming everything the Petitos allege in their lawsuit is true, which we dispute," Steven stated in a statement to The Sun, "this lawsuit does not change the reality that the laundries had no obligation to talk to law enforcement or any third-party, including the Petito family."
The FBA, which did not charge or arrest Chris and Roberta Laundrie, had not previously publicized the claims detailed in the court records.
In addition, there was no mention of any paperwork or proof to back up their assertions in the case.
It's unclear whether this is due to the FBI's failure to officially close the Gabby Petito murder case. The Petitos' complaint, on the other hand, had been in the works for approximately a month.
