'America's Got Talent' 2013 Recap, July 31 Results: Which Favorite Acts Got Eliminated? [VIDEOS]
America's Got Talent aired its second live results show of the season Wednesday night, featuring four acts that advanced to the semifinals and eight acts that were eliminated.
Dance troupe Innovative Force, hip-hop dancers Struck Boyz and synchronized swimmers The Aquanuts were the first acts to learn their fate. Host Nick Cannon announced that Innovative Force had advanced to the semifinals from America's vote and Struck Boyz and The Aquanuts were eliminated from the competition. Judge Heidi Klum said she was very happy that Innovative Force was moving forward in the competition.
Next, freak show artist Brad Byers, hat juggler Kid the Wiz and comedian Dave Shirley found out whether they would advance to the next round. Cannon announced that none of them would be doing so.
Country singer Marty Brown, sword-swallower Alexandr Magala and singer Ciana Pelekai were sent forward next. Cannon revealed that Brown would be advancing to the semifinals, while Magala and Pelekai were eliminated. Judge Howard Stern said that he was very surprised by the result and said that both Magala and Pelekai outperformed Brown on Tuesday.
Opera trio Forte, comedian Angela Hoover, and rapper Tone the Chiefrocca were the last contestants to find out their status with the show. Forte was the only one who moved on to the semifinals. Judge Howie Mandel said it was a no-brainer that Forte would go through, considering they had the broadest appeal.
It was announced that Hoover and Tone the Chiefrocca were fourth or fifth in America's voting, which meant the judges would have to decide which act to send through to the semifinals.
Klum and Mandel voted for Tone the Chiefrocca, while Mel B and Stern voted to send Hoover through. Cannon broke the tie by announcing who got the most votes from America: Hoover.
In next Tuesday's episode, 12 new acts will compete: acrobatic dancers Chicago Boyz, singer Deanna DellaCioppa, dance troupe Mitsi Dancing School, band Brandon & Savannah, AeroSphere Aerial Balloon Show, comedian Jim Meskimen, dancer Kenichi Ebina, dancing dog act Kelsey and Bailey, The American Military Spouses Choir, Illusionist Leon Etienne & Romy Low, reptile handler David the Cobra Kid and classical singer Jonathan Allen.
