'When Harry Met Sally' Star Meg Ryan to Direct New Rom-Com 'A Lady's Guide to Selling Out'
Meg Ryan is officially set to direct a film adaptation for A Lady's Guide to Selling Out.
According to an exclusive on Deadline, A Lady's Guide to Selling Out is coming to Netflix, and Meg Ryan is sitting at the helm as director. The film will be adapted from a book of the same title by Sally Franson.
This sure-to-be well-loved rom-com follows the story of a woman named Casey, who, after majoring in English in college, begins working for an ad agency, a career move that her friends suggest mean she has sold out (and we can assume that is where the book gets its title). However, Casey finds herself falling in love with one of the writers, and suddenly the story takes off on an incredibly soon-to-be cinematic rom-com adventure.
Meg Ryan is obviously no stranger to the world of the rom-com. She is, in fact a staple of the genre, having starred in rom-com classics such as You've Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, and When Harry Met Sally. We will be excited to see her expertise and long standing role in the field seep its way into the nuances of the film from her directorial role. This will mark the second project that Ryan has directed.
The script is being adapted by the incredible Jenny Rachel Weiner. Weiner is a graduate of the phenomenal Julliard playwrighting program. She has an array of projects on the horizon aside from this upcoming feature film. She is also working on a series for Amazon based on an original play that she wrote.
We cannot wait to see A Lady's Guide to Selling Out when it comes to Netflix.
