'Bridgerton's' Nicola Coughlan Fell THREE Times On Set Because of Own Lies
Nicola Coughlan shares some interesting tidbits about her experience in the Netflix show, "Bridgerton" now that Season 2 is just around the corner. According to the actress, who has now became a household name, she was humiliated by not only one wardrobe malfunction on set, but a total of three.
The whole experience was so awful she thought her bosses would believe she was drunk. However, it all happened because she lied out of fear that she would be fired in the first place.
The 35-year-old actress portrays Penelope Featherington in the critically acclaimed series, which returns for season two next week.
Nicola Coughlan Worried About Getting Fired - Leading to Three Falls On Set
Nicola, on the other hand, worried she might not survive the first episode after getting off to a rocky start - quite literally - on her first day.
During a Tuesday interview on The One Show, host Jermaine Jenas inquired if the reports are true that the actress had a little difficulty putting the heels on.
The actress did not think of denying it.
She replied, "Oh just a tad, just a tad. So Ellen Mirojnick [the show's costume designer] on season one said 'you're tiny, you're too small so we're gonna put you in heels."
She said the thought of saying the truth at the time made her scared that she would be fired as a result.

"And I was just terrified to get fired because I couldn't believe my luck at getting the job. I said 'yes, absolutely'," she said. So she consented to wearing those "crazy heels," causing her not just to fall once, or twice, but thrice!
"Three times, and I thought they're going to think I'm drunk, they're gonna think I'm crazy, and I was holding a dog at the time," she hilariously shared.
No More Heels For Penelope on "Bridgerton" Season 2
Nicola, who also stars as Clare in Channel 4's famous comedy "Derry Girls," was keen to reassure fans that the puppy was safe, at least.
She said the showrunners eventually realized what truly happened so they never allowed her character to wear heels anymore.
Nicola also explained to Jermaine and co-host Lauren Laverne how she destroyed significant events in season one for her friends and family.
While the majority of celebrities kept spoilers to themselves, Nicola informed her closest friends and family that Penelope was the enigmatic Lady Whistledown before this was even unveiled at the end of the first season. This naturally frustrated some of her loved ones.
She shared that she revealed that juicy tidbit to all my friends and family, and they were all furious with her (naturally), saying 'it totally destroyed the ending for them.
"Bridgerton" Season 2 will drop on Netflix on March 25, while season one is still available on the platform for a rewatch.
