Chris Redd on Kanye West, Pete Davidson Feud: ‘SNL’ Star Doesn’t Want To Be Involved
Despite being known as one of the funniest comedians among the "Saturday Night Live" cast, Chris Redd doesn't want to be involved and make fun of his pal Pete Davidson and Kanye West's feud that's been going on for weeks.
Speaking to Sirius XM's "The Jess Cagle Show," the 36-year-old television personality explains the reason why he doesn't want to make jokes about the two star's current situation.
He said when it comes to the Yeezy founder, he's always of the mind that he'll "make fun" because he was raised as someone who likes to joke and loves clowning people.
He said they came from the same place as West is also from Chicago, Illinois, and they know the same people, but because of the recent incident, there is a "serious layer to that situation" that he won't make fun of.
Speaking about Kanye West's mental health, in which the rapper was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder in 2016, Redd said he's not making fun of his mental problems because he's also undergoing similar struggles himself so he's "aware of those things."
"I never come from that place of making fun of that specifically. His irresponsibility of it is what I make fun of and his ego, but it's never those things," he added. (via People Magazine)
Regarding Pete Davidson's current condition, Redd said he thinks his pal is "handling it well" because he's starting to speak out again.
Although he doesn't have the same friendship with West compared to the Staten Island native, the "SNL" star wished better days for both stars.
"You always wanna make sure on both sides of it, even though me and Ye aren't friends, I want the best for that dude too. I'm still a fan of his music, you know?" he added.
Redd also has a message for West, saying he hopes he learns how to handle the situation so both of them could move on from what happened.
Chris Redd's latest interview comes a few hours after West has deleted all of his Instagram content following his ban from the social media platform for 24 hours.
The move by Meta, Instagram's carrier, came after the "Donda" rapper's weeks-long online tirade and attacks against Pete Davidson.
A spokesperson for the company said West had violated their policies on "hate speech, harassment, and bullying."
