Amanda Bynes Free? Judge 'Tentatively' Says Conservatorship is No Longer Necessary
In Amanda Bynes' ongoing court case, a judge has delivered a tentative judgement, deciding that the conservatorship is "no longer required." It's not final yet, but it is certainly a positive sign that Bynes just might be freed from the constraining arrangement.
While the 35-year-old actress appears to have won her legal battle, nothing will be finalized until her next hearing on March 22.
Nearly one month after she filed paperwork to end her person and estate conservatorship, which began in August 2013, the "Easy A" star is now seeing hopes of being officially out of conservatorship.
Lynn Bynes, her mother, had secured legal control of her daughter's personal, medical, and financial decisions starting October 2014.
She will follow in the footsteps of Britney Spears if Bynes' conservatorship ends on Tuesday. It can be remembered that Britney Spears was freed in November 2021 after the very rigorous and supportive #FreeBritney movement was launched.

A decision regarding the status of a trust belonging to Bynes is also mentioned, apparently in the context of her February request, as reported by the Times.
"As the trust is not part of the conservatorship estate, a petition for accounting would need to be filed in a separate trust case for the court to entertain such a request. However, based on the Conservator/Trustee's response filed 3/10/2022, perhaps an accounting by the trustee can be arranged outside of a formal court case," the document reads.
The conservatorship was not all bad - at one point, it was truly necessary given Bynes erratic behavior. Some of her acts can even cause harm to herself. In late 2013, before the conservatorship was ordered, she was already undergoing court-ordered psychiatric care.
Starting a small fire on July of that year in the driveway of a Thousand Oaks home alarmed her loved ones, and of course, the court. Before this, she was already involved in various hit-and-run and DUI incidents, shocking her the fans who technically grew up with her and making them wonder what has happened to their idol.
With the help of alcohol treatment and a degree in fashion design, she is now engaged to Paul Michael.
In Ventura, a conservatorship hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Ventura County Government Center Hall of Justice. On Instagram, Bynes has over 94,000 followers. She has been communicating with them as she prepared for her court hearings, to the delight of her fans.
