For his upcoming Weird Al Yankovic biopic, Daniel Radcliffe has revealed how Rihanna played an indirect part in the hiring process.

In a new interview, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe said that a performance of Tom Lehrer's song "The Elements" certainly placed him in the running for the role of Weird Al Yankovic in the biopic "The Al Yankovic Story" on the Roku Channel.

"When I talked to Al for the first time, I was like, 'I'm immensely flattered by the idea that you would pick me to play you, but like, why me? I'm mystified but excited," he revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The actor then recalled an appearance with Rihanna on "The Graham Norton Show" from over a decade ago, confessing that she was "bemused" by his performance of the song.

Rihanna was "quite confused" when she heard him sing "The Elements," the actor claimed. He guessed the pregnant star might have been left wondering, "Who is this kid, and why is he singing all of 'The Elements'?"

He then said Al might have seen it too and realized that Radcliffe "gets it." The actor said he's extremely lucky and he can die with happiness after getting some "accordion lessons with Al."

Earlier this month, the first picture of Radcliffe in character as Yankovic was released. "Wearing the Hawaiian shirt is a huge responsibility that I don't take lightly, and I'm honoured to finally share with the world the absolutely 100 percent unassailably true story of Weird Al's depraved and scandalous life," Radcliffe said that time, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

It appears that the actor is truly enjoying his career with his "Harry Potter" days officially over. The series had made him a household name, but the actor no longer has interest to return to the franchise. He counted himself lucky to have gotten out of it, too.

In a recent interview, the actor, who is now filming "The Lost City," was asked if he would consider returning to the Harry Potter role if filmmaker Chris Columbus made a film adaptation of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," largely based on the stage production.

The actor did not mince words in saying no. He said the actors in the "Star Wars" franchise got three to four decades out of it before returning. He also hinted he would like the same opportunity. As it stands, it's only been 10 years since he deviated from the "Harry Potter" world.
