Fans of Supernatural rejoice!

After a rocky journey attempting to bring forth a prequel to the beloved series, The CW has finally ordered a pilot and cast the leads for The Winchesters. Young stars Meg Donnelly and Drake Rodger have signed on to play Mary and John Winchester, the parents of Supernatural leads Jared Padalecki's Sam and Jensen Ackles' Dean Winchester.

Narrated by Dean and told from his perspective, the pilot follows the epic love story between the two Winchester parents and how they put everything on the line for their love and to save the world as they fight the forces of darkness. Other Supernatural alums to join the series are Samantha Smith and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who reprise their roles.

Previously, Donnelly was known for ABC's "American Housewife" and Disney Channel's "Zombies" movie franchise. She's also been cast in the third season of Disney+'s "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series." On the other hand, Rodger's credits include "The In Between," "Murder RX," and the upcoming "Quiet in My Town."

The Winchesters is The CW's third attempt to produce a prequel to Supernatural. Though the full series hasn't been ordered yet, we feel hopeful that with the announcement of Donnelly and Rodger's casting, there may be a glimmer of hope for The Winchesters.
