Jason Momoa, J.K. Rowling Dragged Into Johnny Depp, Amber Heard Court Battle
To help their $50 million defamation case, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have both dragged other well-known celebrities and personalities into it. Included here are Jason Momoa and J.K. Rowling.
A $50 million defamation case brought by Johnny Depp against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, 35, is set to go to trial.
It has been revealed that the upcoming trial in Fairfax County, Virginia, will include communications that took place between the two parties and a variety of celebrities, including Aquaman actor Jason Momoa and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, according to documents obtained by Hollywood Life.
A 2018 Washington Post opinion piece sparked Johnny Depp's legal action against Amber. Amber stated in the post that she had been a victim of domestic violence.
When it comes to Johnny Depp, his attorneys contended that the "false" charges made by Amber in the piece had a significant influence on his career and ultimately harmed his image in Hollywood, even if she doesn't mention him by name as the abuser. He had a lucrative job as Jack Sparrow in a sequel to Pirates, but only four days after this piece was published, Johnny Depp lost it.
Exhibit lists for the plaintiff (Johnny) and defendant (Daniel) were obtained by HollywoodLife and showed the many celebrities now being dragged into the case.

Emails between Johnny Depp and J.K. Rowling and texts between Amber and Jason - who is presently trying to mend his marriage with his 54-year-old wife Lisa Bonet - are included in the lengthy list of "many correspondences."
Several depositions from 67-year-old Ellen Barkin and 53-year-old lawyer Laura Wasser are also being utilized in the trial's evidence collection. Elon Musk, 50, and James Franco, 43, are also testifying for Amber via live broadcast.
It's unclear how these correspondences can help.
In November of 2020, Depp's libel claim against the British newspaper over a headline calling him a "wife-beater" was dismissed. In March 2021, the court overruled the actor's appeal, finding that the outlet's statements were "basically accurate" and upholding the verdict.
On the other hand, Heard has argued that Depp's Virginia lawsuit against her should be dismissed already since the UK ruling should have influence on it. However, in August, a Virginia judge ruled that the actor should have the right to proceed with the lawsuit, in effect denying Heard's pleas for the case's dismissal.
