"That's the Audience's F****** Problem": Marilyn Monroe Bio-Pic 'Blonde' Receives Rare NC-17 Rating! Here's Why!
Marilyn Monroe continues to push the envelope from beyond in her upcoming bio-pic Blonde.
While she was alive, Marylin Monroe was an icon of performance, beauty, and sex. the upcoming Netflix biopic about her life is staying true to this. It is one of the few Netflix films to get a NC-17 rating.
The film is based off of the steamy novel by Joyce Carol Oates Readers of the book are not shocked by the NC-17 rating According to an article on The Hollywood Reporter, the biopic, which is appropriately titled Blonde after the iconic bombshell, was given this adult rating due to some, "some sexual content." Which, when it comes to telling the story of Marilyn Monroe's life, we would be surprised if there weren't any.
The central role will be played by the ever incredible Ana De Armas. We are excited to see her take on the role, even if there is an age limit to do so. However, this rating continues to leave those working behind the scenes undaunted. The director of the film, Andrew Dominik, was confidently prepared for this rating. He exclaimed:
"It's a demanding movie. If the audience doesn't like it, that's the f****** audience's problem. It's not running for public office. It's an NC-17 movie about Marilyn Monroe, it's kind of what you want, right? I want to go and see the NC-17 version of the Marilyn Monroe story."
We can't wait to see this movie when it finally comes to Netflix!
