Did Twitter Just Bully Doja Cat Into Quitting Music? (That's What She Said, But...)
Did Twitter just bully Doja Cat into quitting music? Because that's what it looks like.
After playing Lollapalooza on Thursday night, the hip-hop artist hopped online to say that she felt she didn't give her all, and would give a much better show on Friday.
However, fans in Paraguay took issue with this, as the singer did not issue a similar apology earlier this week after she missed a festival show in Paraguay.
That being said...that's not exactly where the anger started. The fight only began after Doja Cat responded to one of these tweets, for some reason, with, "I'm not sorry."
Now, the missed concert wasn't really Doja Cat's fault at all: The festival had to be cancelled due to a deadly storm that brought torrential rain and flooding to the area where they were supposed to perform.
Still, the blatant refusal to show any kind of regret about the way things went down struck a nerve with many of her fans from Paraguay and Brazil, who apparently ripped into her for a good time before she tweeted again, saying:
"I moved on I'm just gonna let everybody be mad."
She also changed her Twitter handle to "i quit."
Then, after a little big more time had passed, she said (in a now-deleted tweet:)
"I can't wait to f***ing disappear and I don't need you to believe in me anymore. I'm a f***ing fool for ever thinking I was made for this this is a f***ing nightmare. Unfollow me."
It seems that the intense pressure that comes with having that many eyes on you - and from having that many people who are dying to see you live hard enough that they'd react like that - was too much for DC, because she checked out of the conversation shortly after.
All of that being said...sources seem to be saying that she'll still take the stage at Lollapalooza tonight, so we guess we'll just have to wait and see how serious she is.
