Timothee Chalamet still managed to turn heads at the 2022 Oscars red carpet event despite missing one piece of clothing - his shirt.

Chalamet, once again, flaunted his rule-bending style when he attended the ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday. The "Dune" actor opted to wear a Louis Vuitton suit and black jacket, complementing them with black slacks.

Although he went shirtless, he did not look underdress due to his black boots and the silver necklace that highlighted his bare chest.

Los Angeles Times writer Amy Kaufman first shared a sneak peek of Chalamet's look on her Twitter account, saying, "Guys...breathe. Timothee Chalamet is shirtless under his blazer. #Oscar."

It was not the first time he made people talk about his outfit, though.

In 2019, he made headlines when he wore a harness at the Golden Globes that year. During his appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," he clarified that he was not really wearing a harness and said he thought it was a bib.

It turned out that the accessory was part of "sex dungeon culture," where people wear harnesses.

Do Oscars Have a Dress Code?

Although Chalamet actually looked so fine in his outfit, it has been revealed that Oscars' producers always remind the artist about the guidelines in the ceremony - like safety protocols, speech suggestions, and dress code.

The Cut's fashion news writer Emilia Petrarca noted that the letter reads, "We're aiming for a fusion of Inspirational and Aspirational. In actual words... formal is totally cool if you want to go there, but casual is really not."

The guidelines were put in place after the success of the first televised Oscars ceremony in 1953. In 1968, costume designer Edith Head even sent a memo to attendees reminding them what would - and would not - be okay for the event.

Actresses were required to wear formal evening gowns either maxi or floor length. She noted that the Academy believes that its dignity of traditional affair needs to witness formal dresses.

However, in the past years, Chalamet and more Hollywood celebrities flaunted the most groundbreaking Oscars style that skipped the Academy's guidelines.

Aside from the actor of the "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" reboot, "Wonka," Kristen Stewart also broke the rule by wearing black shorts at the event. She completed her getup with a cropped tuxedo jacket and a white sheer blouse.
