Did Will Smith actually intend to hurt someone at the Oscars in 2022?

People couldn't get enough of his brutal hand-to-face slap on Chris Rock. However, according to many sources who spoke to The Post, the Best Actor winner harming someone was a long time coming.

According to their sources, Will was already on the verge of a nervous breakdown after enduring months of snide remarks about his marriage to wife Jada Pinkett Smith on a variety of award programs.

When the "Pursuit of Happiness" actor took his seat at the Dolby Theater last Sunday, he was met with another joke about his open marriage to Jada, which apparently irritated the star.

"Will Smith, you're married, but you know what you're on the list, and it seems like Jada approved you, so you go on up here," Regina Hall told eligible Hollywood hunks on stage.

Another insider source stated that the pair has "taken the high road" when it comes to "stupid chatter" about Scientology and polyamory, but "they have been more exposed these past few years, and it's taken its toll."

During the awards season, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith were allegedly plagued with inquiries about their 25-year marriage, and the father-of-two is "bore up with it."

Critics of the "Red Table Talk" presenter, on the other hand, labeled her a hypocrite because she has been open about their marital issues and has even benefited from them by discussing them on her Facebook program.

In 2020, the pair revealed Jada's "entanglement" with R&B artist August Alsina, who claimed he had an affair with her.

The 50-year-old actress admitted to being in a relationship with the 29-year-old musician, but she didn't consider it a "transgression" because she and Will were on a "break" at the time.

Will Smith revealed to GQ magazine in September 2021 that their relationship is no longer monogamous, admitting that they both offer each other trust and freedom to visit other people.

"Marriage cannot be a prison for us," the 53-year-old stated.

According to a third source, Will Smith's conflict with Chris Rock is "personal."

"If someone else had said that, it probably wouldn't have bothered as much, but this was completely personal, dating back to 2016 - and perhaps before that."

"The Breakfast Club" anchor Angela Yee also feels that "this joke is the one thing that disturbs you?" after all of the things said and jokes made.

She went on to remark, "I'm not sure if it's just aimed at Chris Rock or if it's aimed at everyone." But it seems like it was a culmination of all of those things, and he was simply frustrated."

"But I suppose when you go back at things that Chris said about them in the past, maybe they don't have a good history together," the host said, "but I guess when you look back at things that Chris said about them in the past, maybe they don't have a good history together."
