Norman Reedus Emotional Over ’The Walking Dead’s Final Shoot, Says He Will Do THIS
After 12 years of starring in "The Walking Dead," lead actor Norman Reedus is ready to say goodbye not just to the series itself but also to his co-stars and the production crew.
For his last day on set, the actor commemorated the show by taking a trip to nostalgia lane with franchise executive producer Greg Nicotero.
Reedus, who plays the role of Daryl Dixon in the post-apocalyptic TV series, said he was "short-circuiting" while trying to process his last day on set.
In a video posted to the producer's Instagram account, the actor said he couldn't wrap his head around his feelings.
Reedus also joked that after the show, he would be "on the bathroom floor with a martini and tears." (via E! News)
He then took the opportunity to express his gratitude to Nicotero, who also serves as a special make-up effects supervisor and director, saying, "it's been a real joy."
Celebrities, Production Crew React to 'The Walking Dead's Final Season
Reedus and Nicotero aren't the only people who are emotional over the show's final season as "Guns N' Roses" musician Slash expressed his feelings, saying he can't believe it's over and the show has been one of the greatest original TV series ever created.
Expressing similar thoughts, writer and producer of "The Walking Dead" Matthew Negrete also commented, writing, "Wow wow wow wow. So surreal. All my best to all of you."
Norman Reedus Won't Be Gone for Long
Although Reedus is ready to say goodbye to "The Walking Dead," he won't be gone from fans' TV screens for long as AMC confirmed in 2020 that they're working on a spin-off show.
The upcoming series, run by showrunner Angela Kang, will revolve around the characters of Daryl and Carol (Melissa McBride).
According to the outlet, the story will follow the two characters after they presumably survive the end of the current show.
As of this writing, the show has yet to be titled.
In addition to the 2023-planned series, AMC will release an anthology series titled "Tales of the Walking Dead," set to drop anytime around the Summer of this year.
The upcoming show, helmed by "TWD" chief content officer Scott M. Gimple, will focus on the backstories of new or existing characters.
