Oscars Producer Said the LAPD Was On Standby After Will Smith Attacked Chris Rock, But THIS Is Why Nothing Happened!
According to Will Packer, the LAPD was ready to arrest Will Smith after the infamous slap at Sunday night's Oscar awards.
The world cannot stop talking about Sunday night's Oscars, specifically the moment in which Will Smith took to the stage to attack Chris Rock after the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's bald head.
The Academy has come out with claims that they asked Smith to leave and the actor refused. However, the actor has come out saying that this never happened.
According to an article on The Hollywood Reporter, however, 2022 Oscars producer Will Packer had the LAPD on standby to arrest the actor after the events. This was before the comedian declined to press charges. Packer shared in an interview with Good Morning America:
"They were saying, you know, 'This is battery,' was the word they use in that moment...They said, 'We will go get him; we are prepared. We're prepared to get him right now. You can press charges. We can arrest him.'
"They were laying out the options, and as they were talking, Chris was being very dismissive of those options. He was like, 'No, I'm fine.' He was like, 'No, no, no.' Even to the point where I said, 'Rock, let them finish.'"
We may have seen a very different awards show had Rock decided to press charges. For now, we must continue to muddle through the aftermath until a conclusion is reached. We will keep you up to date on more details when they come to light.
