Soccer Legend Hope Solo May Face Jail Time for a DWI With Kids In Car
Hope Solo, the US soccer player was arrested for DWI while her two children were in the car.
According to an article on TMZ, the soccer star was driving in a Walmart parking lot in North Carolina while under the influence when she was pulled over by officers. Her two children were in the car.
Reports say that the athlete resisted arrest, but eventually went with the police. She has since returned home to her family. She has been advised by her lawyer, Rich Nichols, not to comment on the situation.
He, however, released a statement on her behalf.
"On the advice of counsel, Hope can't speak about this situation, but she wants everyone to know that her kids are her life, that she was released immediately and is now at home with her family, that the story is more sympathetic than the initial charges suggest, and that she looks forward to her opportunity to defend these charges."
It is likely that, once all of the usual court proceedings are taken care of, Hope Solo may be about to do jail time due to this most recent arrest. The retired goalie, who was at one point considered the best goalie in the world, was ultimately booked for a DWI, misdemenor child abuse, and resisting arrest.
She has previously been arrested for domestic abuse, berrating a police officer, and getting into a physical altercation with her nephew.
We are glad that Hope and her children are safe, and our hearts go out to the friends and family that are dealing with this difficult time.
