The Academy is not letting Will Smith get off that easily.

Even though it is a known fact that it would not discontinue possibly imposing certain sanctions against Smith after he resigned from the Academy, a new report had it that the review process has even been accelerated further.

That said, will people see Will Smith being barred from the next Oscars and from future awards?

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that the discussion on how to sanction actor Will Smith following the slapping incident that occurred at the Oscars on March 27 has been moved forward.

It was announced on Wednesday that the previously scheduled April 18 meeting had been moved to April 8 in a letter from Academy President David Rubin.

In a memo seen by Variety, Rubin explained that the date of April 18 was chosen in compliance with California law and the standards established by the American Bar Association.

The board meeting at which such a decision could be made, required to provide Mr. Smith notice 15 days in advance and offer him the chance to deliver a written statement no less than five days prior to that meeting.

After comedian Chris Rock made an insensitive joke about Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, the actor, 53, withdrew from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences earlier this month. It's after him slapping Rock onstage though, which quickly went viral around the world.

It is possible that the organization, despite Smith's departure from the organization, might still sanction him for publicly slapping him in front of the world in front of Rock, 57.

If Smith is disciplined, he may not be eligible for future awards consideration and the Academy may bar him from the telecast of the following year's awards ceremony.

The actor, a father of three, was honored with this year's Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of Venus and Serena Williams' father in the film "King Richard."

Smith stated he was "heartbroken" about his behavior in his resignation letter.

"I have directly responded to the Academy's disciplinary hearing notice, and I will fully accept any and all consequences for my conduct," he said via a statement.

He continued, "My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable. The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home. I betrayed the trust of the Academy."

Several of the "Switch" singer's projects have been put on hold by Sony and Netflix, as has her solo album. In the meantime, Sony has halted production on "Bad Boys 4," and Netflix is looking for a new director for "Fast and Loose."

Apple TV+'s "Emancipation" has already been completed by Smith. It remains to be seen how the actor can redeem himself.
