Amy Schumer Addresses Allegations She Stole Oscars Joke About Leonardo DiCaprio
Amy Schumer finally addresses the rumors that she stole a joke she made at this year's Oscars about Leonardo DiCaprio from someone online.
The 40-year-old comedian appeared on the latest episode of "Watch What Happens Live!" where she gave Suli McCullough credit for the climate change-inspired joke.
During her monologue at the Academy Awards, which she hosted along with Wanda Skyes and Regina Hall, the actress poked fun at the actor by saying, "He has done so much to fight climate change and leave behind a cleaner, greener planet for his girlfriends." (via Radar Online)
Defending herself from online criticisms, the "Life & Beth" star said she hasn't personally been on Twitter, and her assistant monitors her activity on the platform so she could "remain alive" and "not kill" herself.
"That joke was written by Suli McCullough, but I thank you guys, always, for making sure that I don't start thievery," she added.
Amid the Oscars, Twitter fans claimed that the joke was stolen from a social media user who tweeted almost the same context as her quip.

Amy Schumer Reveals a Controversial Joke She Wasn't Allowed To Say at the Academy Awards
In early reports, the comic had a stand-up comedy show in Las Vegas, Nevada, days after hosting the biggest night in the film industry.
Schumer said her lawyer told her not to say a few jokes at the Oscars during her stint.
She then told the audience members the joke, saying, "'Don't Look Up' is the name of a movie? More like don't look down the barrel of Alec Baldwin's shotgun." (via Insider)
The comedian concluded the gag by saying she was not permitted to say any of that, but you "can just come up and [clock] someone," referring to Will Smith's infamous slap.
The actress referenced Alec Baldwin's tragic "Rust" shooting incident when he fired a gun that he didn't know contained live ammo on set.
The accident left cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead while director Joel Souza was injured.
At the time of this writing, Baldwin has not publicly responded to Schumer's joke.
The "Trainwreck" star isn't the only one who joked about the Oscars during a comedy show, as Chris Rock seemingly addressed the slapping incident in his performance.
Performing in front of a sold-out crowd at The Wilbur in Boston, the comedian said he's still processing what happened, and at some point, he will talk about the incident.
