Amber Heard ‘Still Loves’ Johnny Depp Despite Legal Battles: ‘I Never Named Him’
Amber Heard penned a heartfelt letter ahead of the defamation trial, confessing that she still loves Johnny Depp despite everything that happened between them.
Before the highly-anticipated defamation trial between Depp and Heard, the "Aquaman" actress announced on her Instagram account that she would be away from social media while preparing for her next court appearance. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor is suing her over the 2018 op-ed she penned for The Washington Post, where she spoke about surviving domestic violence.
According to Heard, Depp sued her after recounting her experience, although she never named him. She explained that she just spoke up against men in power in that particular article.
Regardless of the case's outcome, the 35-year-old actress expressed her desire to move on after the showdown - and so can Depp.
She then confessed that, after all these years, Depp holds a part of her that makes their legal battles painful.
"I have always maintained a love for Johnny and it brings me great pain to have to live out the details of our past life together in front of the world," she continued. "At this time, I recognize the ongoing support I've been fortunate to receive throughout these years, and in these coming weeks I will be leaning on it more than ever."
Heard still limits the comments on her Instagram page, but she received support from some of her followers.
Amber Heard Lied Again?
Although Heard claimed that she never named Depp, it is worth noting that she released the op-ed that led to The Sun's publication of its article where it called the actor "wife beater."
This gave birth to another libel case against the British tabloid. Unfortunately, the "Fantastic Beasts" actor lost it as Judge Justice Nicol dismissed his claims and ruled the verdict in favor of the defendant.
According to Judge Nicol, he found the article to be "substantially true" before proclaiming that the actor failed in the libel case.
"The claimant [Depp] has not succeeded in his action for libel ... The defendants [the Sun and News Group Newspapers] have shown that what they published in the meaning which I have held the words to bear was substantially true," he said in the ruling.
He also revealed that he performed a thorough examination of the 14 abuse incidents. Per the judge, 12 out of the said 14 assaults were true.
Depp tried to request an appeal as he reportedly did not have any reasonable undertaking.
