Jada Pinkett Smith Braves Red Carpet Appearance After Will Smith Fiasco
Jada Pinkett Smith was seen on the red carpet for the very first time after her husband Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 94th Annual Academy Awards in "defense" of her honor.
In an Instagram post, the Red Table Talk co-host, 50, thanked Shonda Rhimes for making the Debbie Allen Dance Academy exist.
"Big shout out to @shondarhimes for helping the dreams of the Debbie Allen Dance Academy to become a reality," she wrote in a caption of her and Shonda Rhimes as well as Debbie Allen herself.
When the Rhimes Performing Arts Center first opened, the trio was there to help celebrate. This time, the center is hosting Allen's Debbie Allen Dance Academy and naturally, all three were also in attendance.
According to a Gensler description, the 25,000-square-foot building has two storeys of classrooms, studios, and a theater.
In a gold, strapless gown, Pinkett Smith, a longtime friend of the 72-year-old Fame actress, walked the red carpet.
@therealdebbieallen said wrap it all in gold and come let the kids fill your soul️," Will Smith's wife raved via Instagram on Saturday, April 9, before walking the red carpet. "Congrats Debbie on the opening of your Debbie Allen Dance Academy @officialdadance! You are the legacy that so many other legacies will stand upon. Thank you for ALL that you do♥️."

After Will Smith slapped Chris Rock and caused an uproar, with friends and fans splitting into half onto who's at fault, Jada and Will reportedly talked it over and concluded that the violence that transpired was not right.
During the Academy Awards event, the famous actor stormed on stage and smacked comedian Chris Rock. Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith allegedly agree that Smith overreacted.
It all started with a joke about Jada's hair after she had freely revealed her alopecia, a disorder that results in hair loss, in an interview.
"This is a season for healing and I'm here for it," Jada recently posted on Instagram.
Some said Jada did not need protecting at all. Even if it was a very insensitive comment, she is not a "wallflower" who would have let the incident pass without fighting back - but not how Smith did it. She's both strong and opinionated, so she can certainly fight her battles.
That said, given that Will Smith is her husband, and he did the act for her, she has every reason to still stand by him.
A rehabilitation clinic is apparently where Smith will spend some time in order to get expert advice on dealing with stress. Smith has already resigned from the Academy, although this did not stop the organization from still subsequently banning him from the award shows for 10 years.
