Was Rihanna's Pregnancy A Surprise? Star Tells All In This May's Vogue, And The Pics Are Incredible (Of Course)
Rihanna: incredibly real with us
The singer and business mogul posted this teaser of what was to come on her Instagram this morning:
Based on her clips, it looks like she had a lot of fun doing the cover shoot - which is great for us, because that means we get to see some truly joyously inspired looks from this fashion goddess.
That's not all though, because there was of course an interview to go along with this fab photoshoot as well - and in the interview, Rihanna revealed that she and fiance A$AP Rocky weren't exactly planning on this:
"Planning? I wouldn't say planning. But certainly not planning against it. I don't know when I ovulate or any of that type of shit. We just had fun...and then it was just there on the test.
"I didn't waste any time. I called him inside and showed him. Then I was in the doctor's office the next morning and our journey began."
So while the baby was a welcome surprise, surprise is indeed the keyword there.
Vogue already posted several sneak peaks of the pictures from the interview on their Instagram:
Rihanna also told the publication what she's been craving these days:
"When I found out I was pregnant, I thought to myself, There's no way I'm going to go shopping in no maternity aisle. I'm sorry-it's too much fun to get dressed up. I'm not going to let that part disappear because my body is changing."
"I usually hate desserts, but all of a sudden you come close to me with a chocolate-covered donut and you've got my heart forever,"
She's also been munching on salted tangerines - because apparently in Barbados they wash their fruits in saltwater before eating them!
In this clip, Rihanna discusses how she's prepared to go from "being a teacher to really being more of a student." "I think I'm gonna be learning more from my kid than I could ever teach them."
This look in particular is kinda reminiscent of what she wore at the Met Gala with A$AP Rocky last year - just a big, very stylishly placed duvet. Cozy chic.
She and her other half are sort of like binary style stars. She says they're "like iron sharpening iron" together.
Rihanna also talked about how she's dealing with being pregnant in and of itself - from the actual physical energy it takes, to her thoughts on everything that comes after:
"I hear all these horror stories, right? But then, I'm just like...no listen I'm having a good time! Like I'm really enjoying it. It's a journey that's not going to end...even after birth. I'm looking forward to it."
We're glad that Rihanna is keeping a positive outlook and continues to shine a light on herself as an inspiration for other women to be pregnant whatever way they feel most comfortable. (Maybe she and Britney Spears should get together and chat!)
