A man has come forward with a claim that he witnessed NFL player Dwayne Haskins wander out onto the highway moments before his tragic passing. Haskins, who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was struck by a dump truck while crossing interstate 595 on foot in the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to the account by Chris Stanley, which was relayed to NBC 6 South Florida, he was on his way to drop off his daughter at the Fort Lauderdale Airport when he saw cars and a big Mack truck or tractor trailer moving towards the left as an individual made their way onto the highway.

Stanley recalled, "He was about halfway, to a quarter way in the right lane, already onto the highway and I was already concerned that somebody was going to strike him right there at that moment."

Due to his concern, Stanley then pulled out his phone and dialed 911. To prove this, he shared a screenshot of his call log with NBC 6, which showed that he had dialed the authorities at 6:31 AM - six minutes before Florida Highway Patrol officials said the crash was reported at 6:37 AM.

When asked by NBC 6 if he could think of any reason the man who might've been Haskins would've been out on the road, Stanley said, "I could not. That's why it's just very disturbing. I just didn't understand the situation." Additionally, there was no westward bound vehicle that Haskins could've climbed out of.

As the sports world reacts with stunned disbelief and grief at Haskins' tragic loss, we offer our condolences and support to Haskins' family. It's always devastating to lose anyone, but to lose someone so suddenly and senselessly is even harder. RIP Dwayne Haskins.
