As reported by IndieWire, iconic voice actor and comedian Gilbert Gottfried has passed away at age 67 after struggling with a long illness. With an instantly recognizable voice and boisterous sense of humor, Gottfried will surely be missed.

The news was first broken by comedian and "Seinfield" actor Jason Alexander in a Tweet. Sharing his grief and respect for Gottfried, Alexander wrote, "Gilbert Gottfried made me laugh at times when laughter did not come easily. What a gift. I did not know him well but I loved what he shared with me. My best wishes and sympathy to his family. #ripGilbertGottfried"

A few minutes later, the Gottfried family confirmed in a Twitter statement that the actor had passed away. The statement reads, "We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness," the message from the Gottfried family said, "In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert's honor. Love, the Gottfried family."

It's currently unclear what illness Gottfried struggled with. Regardless, we offer our sincerest condolences to the Gottfried family as they mourn their loved one. As a child in the 90's Gottfried will always be remembered for voicing Iago in Disney's "Aladdin," Digit in PBS Kids' "Cyberchase," and also the Aflac duck in commercials.

In more recent years, Gottfried also made memorable appearances on "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver," where he dubbed over Jared Kushner's voice while the British comedian made fun of Kushner's lack of interviews and public speaking appearances. For these exemplary performances and more, Gottfried's passing marks a palpable loss for the comedy world. RIP Gilbert Gottfried.
