#TS10 - Taylor Swift's tenth album - is happening whether she likes it or not, according to fans under the #TS10SwiftiesVersion hashtag, currently trending at #1 on Twitter.

This decision comes after at least a full day of Swifties arguing with one another over which re-release album their favorite singer-songwriter is going to announce today, April 14 - while some fans have sworn it's going to be 1989, others have presented compelling evidence for Speak Now.

The Case for Speak Now

The case for #SpeakNowTV - a re-release of Speak Now, Swift's third studio album, released in 2010, is simple: Her whole website has turned purple, which also happens to be the color of the dress she was wearing on the album cover, and subsequently the theme for the whole album.

That's really it - but a site-wide change is actually pretty compelling evidence in the world of Taylor Swift, who is known for dropping super-subtle easter eggs that only the most knowledgable of fans might pick up on. (Lucky for all of us, there are a lot of them around.) Of course, if we're looking for a case made up of easter eggs, look no further than...

The Case for 1989

This is a case full of much more evidence - tiny, cryptic evidence, but put togther in a puzzle-piece way that makes just enough sense for it to be real. The only problem? It's a year old. Okay, so, one year ago last night, Taylor appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, to discuss what it was like re-recording her second album, Fearless, the re-release of which came out around this time last year - April 9, 2021.

While she was on the show, she mentioned 1989, as well as "Shake It Off," the album's lead single.

That's not all, though - fans also pointed out that she mentioned New York several times, which they think could be a reference to "Welcome To New York," another song from that album.

Now, you could easily write that off as a happenstance - after all, the show she was on is literally taped in New York, it's not hard to imagine why she would mention it - but what about ALL THESE OTHER THINGS they've pointed out, including all the math that has to be done to put it together?!

Some of the fans in the #TS1989 hashtag have now simply drawn the conclusion that all of this evidence might still mean something, now that the dates have circled back around.

We'd write this one off as the less likely of the two, but the thing is...Taylor is actually known for doing stuff this cryptic. They could be right. Or, nobody could be right, and there could be no album announcement coming at all.

Why Do Swifties Think Today Is Album Announcement Day Anyway?

Fans have also noted that the font that the new site header has changed, as has its layout (as we referenced in the case for Speak Now), which is usually a signal that a new Taylor Swift Era is about to begin.

What's more though - even if they're wrong, the Twitter Swifties have decided that if Taylor won't put out a new album and quench their desperate thirst for more music to commune over, they're releasing their own.

What is #TS10SwiftiesVersion?

Users online started joking, among their jokes about how far they were reaching on this one, that if there wasn't a new album announcement tomorrow, that her fans would simply make an album for her.

This joke caught on in a big way, and users started rallying around the idea, even making fake tracklists with songs that either reference old clues that never panned out, rumored songs that were never released, or poke fun at other songs she's released (like "YOU!" a track that is almost certainly a reference to her collaborative song with Brendon Urie, "ME!"

We're torn - we wanna say "here's hoping Taylor actually DOES announce an album today like they think she will so these poor Swifties can finally rest..." but we also kinda wanna see how far they can take this idea with all of that fanpower.

We'll definitely be keeping an eye on this story...and, of course, on all of Taylor Swift's socials.
