‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 14: Kornbread Quitting Drag To Focus on THESE Things
Kornbread "The Snack" Jete was a clear frontrunner of "RuPaul's Drag Race" season 14 as she won the first challenge and impressed RuPaul whenever they interacted in the werkroom but her journey ended early due to an injury.
When asked about what's next for her career, Kornbread revealed she's quitting drag in order to focus on bigger things in life.
Speaking to NBC News on the red carpet of season 14's grand finale at the Flamingo, Las Vegas, the drag queen revealed she's going to take a "good little break."
"I'm going finish my tours out and I'm going to finish my transition how I want to finish it," she told the outlet. (via Out Magazine)
In addition, she mentioned that she wanted to go straight into acting and do what she's been doing.
Regarding the future of her drag career, Kornbread clarified she enjoys doing drag, but she doesn't think she'll do it for much longer.
"I give myself a good three years, probably, tops. Because I want to focus 100% on transitioning and 100% on the career I've started, which is musical theater and acting. So, drag just did what it needed to do and gave me the outlet that I needed," the drag entertainer added.
Kornbread's recent comments came a month after confirming that she won't return on season 15 despite the popular demand.
Taking to her official Twitter account, the drag queen said her run in season 14 was "nothing short of amazing," but she will not compete in the next season.
The drag performer suffered an ankle injury during the super tease acting challenge, where she purposely slammed herself on the floor.
Previous contestants who suffered an injury or illness during the show (Victoria Scone, Eureka O'Hara, Veronica Green) were given an open ticket for the following season.
Kornbread Reveals Inspiration for 'RuPaul's Drag Race' Season 14 Finale Red Carpet Look
Kornbread turned heads when she graced the red carpet of this season's finale at the Flamingo, Las Vegas, where she donned a "Beauty and the Beast" inspired look.
The contestant wore an exaggerated silhouette of Belle's iconic yellow gown. Her look was completed with prosthetics and a wig with horns to resemble the beast.
In the interview, Kornbread said her look is "the beast transitioning into something great," which conveys that beauty standards are something people see a lot of but don't have to listen to.
