Johnny Depp testified in his defamation suit against Amber Heard.

When he revealed the tragedy and abuse he reportedly endured at the hands of the "Aquaman" actor, the courtroom fell silent.

"The gallery and the jury were watching him like a hawk, hanging on every word he had to say," Law & Crime Network's Jesse Weber told Insider during Depp's first 30 minutes on the stand.

Over the course of four days, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star discussed his difficult background and how he utilized it to construct a successful career in Hollywood before opening up about his troubled marriage to Heard.

All eyes in court were on Depp during the previous four days.

Insider recently spoke with two specialists acquainted with the case who were able to read how the actor did and behaved on the stand.

They believe the "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" actor succeeded in coming across as "genuine" and "charming."

Journalist Weber regarded Depp as "genuine and honest," claiming that his speaking manner was one of the things that stuck out.

"It was deliberate and slow. He took the time to offer context and respond to these challenging issues."

Mitra Ahouriain, an entertainment lawyer, concurred with Weber, calling Depp "vulnerable, honest, and truthful."

However, it's not all good news for his legal team, as Johnny Depp struggled under cross-examination from Heard's attorneys on the way to success in the lawsuit.

In fact, he was questioned about matters that truly put him in the hot seat.

The veteran actor was presented in court with text messages in which he called Amber Heard nasty names, and an audio and video footage of their disputes was played.

When they were given to Depp, he reportedly became "a little evasive," but still came across as affable and not aggressive.

Depp's placid attitude also seemed to crumble on the final day of cross-examination, as experts felt Heard's attorneys were really getting under his skin.

Furthermore, Depp is having difficulty proving how Heard's op-ed caused his career to tank, as her legal team has already begun questioning the argument in court, pointing out that the abuse claims first surfaced in 2016, with reports indicating that Depp's career was already suffering for other reasons.

Depp is suing Heard for $50 million after the actress claimed in a 2018 article for The Washington Post that she is a victim of domestic violence.

The 56-year-old actor claims that the op-ed cost him jobs, including those in major film franchises.

The blonde beauty rejected the allegations, revealing court records proving that her ex-husband did physically attack her before and during their marriage.

She will, however, be allowed to tell her side of the tale later in the trial, which is still underway.
