Disney+ Releases New 'Chip N' Dale Rescue Rangers' Trailer - And It Has A Real 'Roger Rabbit' Vibe.
Disney+ is bringing back a "Disney Afternoon" favorite in a whole new way - Namely, Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers - and the second trailer is a deep dive into the cartoon/real world hybrid they have created.
The story takes place decades after the series was taken off the air, in a Roger Rabbit-style universe where humans and toons co-exist. Dale, played by Andy Samberg, has gotten a procedure to make him a CGI version of his former self, in order to stay relevant with fans. Chip (John Mulaney), on the other hand, has taken a day job and leaves the celebrity life behind.
But when toons suddenly begin to disappear, the duo decide to reunite to see if they can get to the bottom of it.
The film is a mix of CGI, hand-drawn, and claymation-style cartoons, mixed with human actors, and flaunts an impressive cast - which includes Will Arnett, Eric Bana, Dennis Haysbert, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, J.K. Simmons, and Chris Parnell, just to name a few.
Directed by SNL's Akiva Schaffer, the feature film has all the earmarks of Disney past and present, bringing in modern day takes on Peter Pan, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and others, in a sort of "where are they now?" environment, where not everyone is as close to their on-screen personas as we may remember them being.
Much more in-depth than the original trailer, released back in February, this one really fleshes out the world and its rules. Definitely worth a watch.
Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers is set to stream on Disney+ on May 20th.
