OUCH - Olivia Wilde Served Child Custody Papers On Stage At CinemaCon. Those Close To Her Ex, Jason Sudeikis, Deny His Involvement.
It was a strange day at CinemaCon for actress and director Olivia Wilde, who was at the event to promote her new film Don't Worry Darling - starring her current boyfriend, Harry Styles.
What she didn't expect was to be handed a manila envelope which read 'Personal and Confidential,' containing legal documents pertaining to the custody of her two children with actor Jason Sudeikis.
Upon taking the envelope, she said in front of a 3,000 seat crowd, "This for me?" She asked a second time, opened it, and went on with her presentation after simply saying, "Thank you."
Many felt anger at this very public event, and wondered if her ex-husband had something to do with the stunt. (How very un-Ted Lasso) but according to someone close to Sudeikis, he had nothing to do with it. The source told The Hollywood Reporter:
"Papers were drawn up to establish jurisdiction relating to the children of Ms. Wilde and Mr. Sudeikis. Mr. Sudeikis had no prior knowledge of the time or place that the envelope would have been delivered, as this would solely be up to the process service company involved, and he would never condone her being served in such an inappropriate manner."
Regardless of how inappropriate it was, however, Wilde stayed professional and focused on the film she was there to promote; Don't Worry Darling is a psychological thriller which stars Wilde alongside Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, and Nick Kroll.
The plot revolves around a 1950s housewife who moves into an experimental community her husband's company has created, which claims to be a utopia, though she begins to suspect that there is something sinister at play.
Don't Worry Darling is scheduled to release on September 23, 2022.
