Remove Amber Heard From ‘Aquaman 2' Calls Intensify Ahead Actress’ 1st Testimony
Amber Heard has not received good news ever since the defamation trial began.
In the past weeks, Johnny Depp and his witnesses offered their testimonies before the court and went through questioning by Heard's lawyer. While the actress' camp also offered substantial arguments and evidence, people who have been tuning in the trial notably side the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star.
On Monday, she is scheduled to take the stand as the first witness for her defense.
An insider has since told Deadline that Heard indeed showed her well-composed side amid the blows in the court.
"It's hard to see how Amber won't prove to be a highly effective weapon against Depp in her own advocacy. Regardless of how they have tried to characterize her, she has been nothing but well composed and pretty conservative in court without having said a word," the source said.
But aside from bombshell statements again her, Heard also suffered from a crushing setback in her career involving her appearance on "Aquaman 2."
Remove Amber Heard or Boycott "Aquaman 2," Internet Says
On Change.org, the petition "Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2" nears 3 million signatures as of press time. The creator, Jeanne Larson, addressed it to the SVP of Publicity and Communications for DC Warner Bros Courtney Simmons and DC Entertainment.
More than 1 million people signed the petition within a few days since it took over the spotlight once again a week ago.
In a related update, multiple news outlets confirmed that the actress' screentime in the upcoming installment has been cut to less than 10 minutes. Grace Randolph first revealed it on Twitter, and fans showed mixed reactions to the update.
Many Deppheads made it clear that they would boycott "Aquaman 2" if Heard still appears on it regardless of the amount of her screen time. Still, some fans are divided since some of them have since decided to boycott the film and Warner Bros. for good after the removal of Depp from the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise.
Meanwhile, others proclaimed they would boycott the film and all flicks under Warner Bros. with or without the actress in "Aquaman 2."
While the update regarding her screen time should be taken with a grain of salt, it is also worth noting that Randolph previously revealed that "Aquaman 2" entirely replaced Heard and her character, Mera.
Warner Bros. is yet to comment on the public's rage toward "Aquaman 2." It also has not updated whether Heard would still be part of the film.
