Jonathan Goodwin Health Update: 'AGT' Star Faces Tragedy After Stunt Fail
Jonathan Goodwin's fiancée, Amanda Abbington, shared an update about the daredevil following his on-set injury.
Months after Goodwin made the "America's Got Talent: Extreme" audience worry after his terrifying stunt fail, his fiancée gave an update about his status and life after the accident.
On Monday's episode of the "Out to Lunch" podcast, Amanda Abbington told Jay Rayner that Goodwin is not paralyzed and starting to adjust to life in a wheelchair.
"He fell 30 feet and lost a kidney, broke both shoulder blades, shattered both legs. Third-degree burns, broke his spine and severed his spinal cord and nearly died. And then on the operating table, he nearly died again," the 48-year-old actress said. "Unless there's a kind of stem cell surgery or that thing that Elon Musk is designing with the little chip, he'll be like that forever."
Despite that, she assured that Goodwin has remained positive and strong although he lost control of his lower body part.
With that, Abbington aspires to be like him as the daredevil continues to be a "liquid sunshine" to everyone.
Although Goodwin is now incapacitated, it is something they are thankful for as he almost did not make it even during his surgery.
What Happened to Jonathan Goodwin?
Following Abbington's interview, Goodwin shared a photo of him in a wheelchair for the first time on Tuesday.
"A lot has changed in the last 6 months, but love is a constant and I'm very very loved. Looking forward to my next chapters and being a roll [sic] model," he said.
In October, multiple news outlets revealed that Goodwin suffered from injuries while performing his act in "America's Got Talent: Extreme."
His performance included suspending himself 70 feet above the ground while in a straightjacket.
Two cars were also suspended next two him while swinging back and forth. The plan was to free himself from the suspender before falling onto a mattress below him. However, the two cars crashed together and smashed him before he fell.
The collision caused a massive explosion on set. He also missed the mattress he was supposed to land on, hitting his head on the ground and sustaining a neurological injury.
A 911 call from the set has recorded the tragic accident. As published by The Sun, a woman described Goodwin's situation as "agonal and posturing." The terms are being used for patients who are near death.
