While Rihanna could not be in attendance at this year's Met Gala, she was present in marble - well...digital marble.

While the singer was not there, a statue of Rihanna was virtually displayed against a backdrop of other statues in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Now, all together, we are going to try to understand what the heck that means.

First and foremost, this raises the bar of Rihanna's iconic nature which, quite frankly, we did not think was possible (the bar is already so untouchably high). However, not having her at the event - an event which several celebrities could not or did not attend - was apparently so unthinkable that everyone found a way to get her there anyway.

Instantly incredible.

This Instagram video, posted by the performer herself, it shows the statue (digital statue?) in the main statue hall of The Met, surrounded by the other (real?) statues.

Rihanna captioned the post, "Shut down the met in marble! what's more gilded than that? Lol! Thank you @metmuseum and @voguemagazine for this historic tribute! y'all bad for this one!"

The statue, according to various news sources, is only a digital rendering of the statue shown in the hall of the other statues. This video, posted by Rihanna, is the only realm in which the statue exists. It was not physically shown, digitally or otherwise, in the actual museum (but that would be amazing right?)

So, Rihanna was in attendance at the Met - but not really the Met - but only in the digital realm, and not in a real-statue-way, even though this was made in order to give her a presence at the event that she could not be in attendance for - and the actual video was not shown at the event, but was made in light of the event we think.

Make sense?....Yeah, we don't know either...
