Sorry Kim Kardashian: Reality Star Received FAKE Marilyn Monroe Hair [EXPERT]
Bad news for Kim Kardashian!
The reality star received a strand of Marilyn Monroe's golden blonde hair. However, a history expert believes the present is a "fake."
The KKW Beauty mogul stunned fans by walking the 2022 Met Gala red carpet in Marilyn Monroe's classic outfit, which she wore when she serenaded President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden in 1962.
The historical costume was lent by the Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum in Orlando, Florida.
According to reports, the business gave Marilyn Monroe's hair to "The Kardashians" star.
However, historian Scott Fortner claims that what Ripley's handed Kim was a forgery, and that they even produced receipts.
Scott re-shared Ripley's video of the mom-of-four taking her gift on Instagram last week, along with a screenshot from the museum's website and what the expert claims is a 1962 photo of a hair shop receipt, calling the hair's origins into doubt.
According to TheMarilynMonroeCollection.com, Scott is reported to hold one of the world's greatest private collections of Marilyn Monroe property and archives, and he also uploaded a blog post alleging the hair Ripley gave Kim was "fake."
"For the JFK gala, Marilyn's hair was not trimmed and styled by Robert Champion." "The awards went to the one and only "Mr. Kenneth" (Kenneth Battelle)," the caption says.
"A receipt from Lilly Dache Beauty Salon (see photo) shows that Battelle was responsible for Marilyn's renowned haircut from that night."
The Kennedy gala took place on May 19th.
Ripley's Believe It or Not! Clarification Concerning Marilyn Monroe's Hair
Ripley's Believe It or Not! said in a statement to the New York Post. Clarified the description of Kim Kardashian's hair lock and a "second, independent" strand shown solely in her Met Gala dressing room - neither of which can be related with John F. Kennedy's birthday.
According to the website's first description, Robert Champion trimmed her hair immediately before her performance at MSG. John Reznikoff, one of the most acknowledged experts in hair collection, also "authenticated" the hair.
They also said that the one in Kim's video and the one in her dressing room on the website are authentic.
They have admitted, however, that they are unable to confirm that the hair originally belonging to Robert was stolen before Marilyn sung Happy Birthday to President Kennedy decades ago.
