HBO Max's hit series Hacks is back for season two, and this one is going to be big.

Hacks is the sneaking super-hit that came out on HBO last year following the lives of two comedians: one, an old timer working to make a comeback; and one a young upstart learning from her along the way. Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder take on these two leading roles, respectively.

The series was nominated for fifteen Emmy Awards and won three, including Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

Now, with season two coming out, mark our words: This show is about to blow up.

You would think that a series that was nominated for fifteen Emmy Awards HAD already blown up, but this is not the case. Hacks seems to be following a path that many excellent shows that are made on streaming services take; Their first season, while exceptional, is not widely talked about by the public at large. The show definitely has its fans, but it has yet to officially break into the mainstream cultural headspace.

In this way, Hacks largely resembles Ted Lasso. Ted Lasso, while it had a sensational first season, was a show that only a select few who are VERY up-to-date on all things happening in television had seen. It took time, and the word-of-mouth that followed season one, to get everyone revved up for season two.

Now a smash-hit success, fans are pushing the limited series to extend beyond their initial three season set run.

We can't wait to see Hacks launch to the powerhouse superstardom it deserves. Episodes one and two are out today on HBO Max.
