WORD FROM WHISTLEDOWN: The Role of Francesca Bridgerton to Be Taken Over By Hannah Dodd
Francesca Bridgerton has always been a mystery - at least, as long as the show has been out.
However, one thing that is not up in the air about the character is that the actress, Ruby Stokes, who has helemd the middle child part for the first two seasons of Bridgerton, has been replaced by Hannah Dodd.
Viewers of the Regency Era romance loved catching the mysterious few seconds of Francesca on screen. While she was not a major player in the first two seasons, she rounded out the complexity of the Bridgerton family in a beautiful, show-elevating way. Fans have been waiting with bated breath to hear more from the character - a time that must be quickly approaching, as she is now the oldest Bridgerton sister that is not yet out in society.
(Also, spoiler alert for those who are choosing not to read the books, but seeing as Francesca's love story involves her already having been married, we imagine she'll have to become a major player very, very soon.)
However, according to an exclusive on Deadline, Ruby Stokes had to leave the show due to an obligation to lead a different Netflix series: Lockwood and Co. While we are thrilled for Stokes's opportunity and can rest assured that we have not seen the last of her, she will surely be missed in the ton.
That being said, we are thrilled to see Anatomy of a Suicide's Hannah Dodd take on the role.
Based on the trajectory of the story, we are confident that she will be getting more screen time in the years to come, and the responsibility of giving depth to her life story falls on this young actor's shoulders. We are confident we are up for the challenge.
We can't wait to see season three of Bridgerton when it hits the screen.
