Rihanna May Have Had Her Baby And It Has Left the Twittersphere Debating the Specifics of HIPAA Laws
Speculation has it that Rihanna has had her baby, and the Twitter universe doesn't know how to feel.
Yesterday, tweet from a hospital employee began circulating online, reading:
"Rihanna about ot have her baby at the hospital I'm workign [sic] at they cleared everybody off the floor."
Then, just a little while after, the same user responded to their own tweet, writing:
"SHE HAD A BOY YALL."
If these rumors are to be believed, it does sadly put our twin theory to rest.
However, while fans are happy about the star's exciting news, the Twittersphere has errupted with debate about whether or not this Tweet was ethically uncouth.
Several people are calling out the original poster for violating HIPAA regulations by sharing the private news about the star. Yet, because HIPAA is only a standard in the US - and the child was believed to be born in Barbados - no laws were technically violated.
If we learn nothing else from this, it is that we collectively need to brush up on our knowlege of HIPAA laws.
Others are calling the claim bogus, saying that it would not be possible for an entire floor to be cleared for anyone, regardless of celebrity status, considering the other patients, some of whom would likely be in the middle of giving birth themselves.
Some have cited Beyonce's pregnancy as a sitaution in which an entire floor was cleared, but that, again, is something that many are calling into question.
The event is surrounded with much speculation, but if the news is true, we are very happy for Rihanna and A$AP Rocky! Congratulations!
