Aside from the tragedy that occurred during filming, there has been no news on the "Rust" film and its latest developments.

After the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, a producer for the film allegedly remained "confident" that it may still be finished.

Alec Baldwin unintentionally fired a prop gun on the stage, killing the 42-year-old in October.

Anjul Nigam, one of the Western film's producers, told The Hollywood Reporter that he hopes "Rust" will be released shortly.

He informed the site that the film has already devolved into a "horrific disaster." With the inquiry started, he hopes it will be completed soon and explain what occurred that day.

"Obviously, there will be folks out there who will have bad viewpoints," Anjul continued, "but we're optimistic about continuing to create outstanding movies."

Other "Rust" producers denied last week that they neglected firearms safety precautions throughout filming.

Baldwin and his co-producers submitted a court motion claiming that they did not "willfully" breach any safety policy and that they guaranteed that all safety measures relevant on their film set were followed.

They stated in court filings that performers who use fake firearms are constantly taught. Assistant directors were also directed to train everyone on safety briefings, particularly when weapons might be used on set.

The paper also indicated that the producers of "Rust" stated that a meeting took place on the day of the filming.

However, the New Mexico Environment Department just fined "Rust" about $137,000 last month.

It has also been reported that Alec Baldwin was "exonerated" of Halyna Hutchins' death after returning to the set in February.

Meanwhile, Hutchins' family sued Nigam, Baldwin, the crew, and the production company for wrongful death.

In a statement to ABC in February, the veteran actor and other producers claimed, "Any accusation that Alec was careless is completely incorrect. He, Halyna, and the rest of the team depended on the two specialists in charge of inspecting the gun's status as a 'cold gun,' which means there is no prospect of a discharge, blank or otherwise."

Travis Fimmel, Brady Noon, Frances Fisher, and Jensen Ackles all feature in "Rust." The film's budget is projected to be between $6 million and $7.3 million.
